The English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) program at Miami-Dade County Public Schools Adult & Continuing Education Centers helps adults build strong English skills for everyday life, work, and education. Open to anyone 16 years or older who is not currently enrolled in high school, our ESOL classes are offered at convenient locations from Homestead to Miami Lakes. Our goal is simply to help adults communicate with confidence, advance their careers, and take a more active role in their families and communities.

Available Classes
We offer a variety of classes to meet each student’s goals and language level:
• Literacy for Adult ESOL Learners – Three levels designed for adults with limited reading or writing skills in their native language.
• Adult English Literacy – Six levels of core ESOL instruction, from beginner to advanced.
• Academic Skills – For students who plan to continue to college or other postsecondary education.
• Citizenship – For adults preparing to become U.S. citizens.
• English Literacy for Career and Technical Education (ELCATE) – Three levels of English instruction focused on students already in the workforce.
• Workplace Readiness – Designed to help students develop the skills needed to succeed in specific industries.
How the Program Works
The ESOL Program develops all areas of language learning, including speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar, and pronunciation.
Our courses combine workforce skills, life skills, and academic skills using a communicative, integrative, and student-centered approach, grounded in the latest research on adult learning.
